A FACINATING INSIGHT IN TO THE PAST...
Feed Your Curiosity
Deep in the heart of Highland Perthshire is the beautiful village of Blair Atholl, where the meeting of the rivers Garry and Tilt have witnessed so much of life over the centuries. Here in the Atholl Country Life Museum, once the village school, we have captured that exciting life of the past allowing you to learn about the great characters of the area and their skills and achievements. Within the museum we have Scotland’s only stuffed Highland Cow, a local roadman’s home-made device that was used to paint the first white lines on the road near the Queen’s View and the immaculately reconstructed Trinafour Post Office which looks and feels exactly as it would have done in the 1930s, with typical stock on display behind the counter and the authentic village phone next to the door! You can also view and listen to the fascinating and often amusing insights of locals via our ‘Voices of Atholl’ film which comprises short clips capturing the memories of local elderly residents – an inspiring glimpse of days gone by!
